Stronghold

The caged tiger paces to and fro, captivated in apprehension
Silently and longing to be known, the possessor assesses the tension.

“Calm down! you untamed passion
for it is on you I cannot rely
My heart is enshrouded in a lonely bastion of hope
that my head will only deny”

Behold the towering wall; built so solid and sound
Not one is allowed in at all. There is no door to be found
The hand off so quick it was undetected; indifference so swiftly bartered
Only a fool believes in the unaffected; repression, the land uncharted

A melody, provoking undeniable tears; silence prevents the beauty
Spectacular lightening, intensified fears; darkness gives way to duty
A delicate kiss on the lips, once desired – total lack of flavor
The voice transcending hope, inspired – words have lost all power

“Quiet my heart! You have caused me much pain
Into temptation, I’ve pursued you!
So get back in your cage and don’t complain
Or you’ll fall hard and need my rescue!”

Safe and sound and all alone the possessor assesses the tension
The caged tiger paces to and fro, captivated in apprehension
